![]() ![]() Kuruk was unable to save his love, Ummi, when her face was stolen by Koh, the Face Stealer, and she died. The spirits drained him physically and mentally and he struggled to be the Avatar at times. He became tied to battle after battle with the spirits in both the mortal and spirit worlds, which the people did not know about. ![]() It's true that while Yangchen's influence brought peace among humans even after her death, her negligence towards the spirits caused some to grow dark, one of which managed to infect Kuruk with a spiritual illness. He was known for being open-minded and confident, eager to build upon the foundations laid out by Yangchen for uniting the people. While not much was previously known about Avatar Kuruk, the Kyoshi novels, The Rise of Kyoshiand The Shadow of Kyoshi, have shone some light on the events of his life. ![]()
